Norte Maar’s CounterPointe is the longest standing performance series to exclusively feature collaborations between female dance makers, the pointe shoe, and visual artists. Selected women choreographers are paired with women visual artists to collaborate and create new work – investigating the process of creation, inspiration, and development in live performance.
Actively engaged in bringing innovative collaborative programming to the NYC metro area and Northern Tier of New York State, Norte Maar offers a variety of programs from the clay residency in upstate NY to the Brooklyn Combine, a mash-up of multi-disciplinary arts performed in a night of chance collisions & creativity.
Free Kids Art is a free art program held at the Arlington Branch of the Brooklyn Public Library. Artist Kiana Vega leads kids and their guardians in a free-wheeling art-making session two Saturdays every month at noon. This program is supported in part by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and NYSCA.
From intimate exhibitions at the Pine Street space to partnerships with galleries, Norte Maar has been showing artists’ work since 2005.
