Norte Maar is pleased to announce an exhibition of works by artist, Paulapart. "Sea of Air" explores the fluid world we inhabit with a sound installation of acoustic "Om Shell" sculptures and a large mural inside the gallery. Together the chorus of three spiraling sculptures sing immersive tunes of flowing water, soothing breath, and musical mystery to show how we are all connected through a sea of air. Paulapart's "Om Shells" are modeled after the curved forms of conch shells, gramophones, and the human cochlea for their special ability to amplify and resonate sound. "Om Shells" are both stand-alone sculptures and functional speaker cabinets that filter and expand any music, sound or noise that is played through the speakers inside the sculptures.

“Paulapart’s art gives origin and physicality to the unnoticed but often very much felt undulations, vibrations, pulses and rhythms of the natural world. They make visible that which would otherwise remain ephemeral and distant.” – Jason Andrew

Paulapart is an acoustic sculptor and composer that uses shapes and sounds from the natural world to synthesize new forms, soundscapes, and experiences. They have exhibited in New York at Silent Barn, Socrates Sculpture Park, Otion Front Studio, Art Cluster Gallery, Trestle Projects, New Women Space, H0L0, Rubulad, Spectrum, Babycastles, House of Yes, and Knockdown Cente. They have shown work in Miami, FL at Space Mountain, The Mutiny Hotel, and Satellite Art Fair. Their work has appeared in Hyperallergic and Ginger publications. Residencies they have attended include The Vermont Studio Center, The Contemporary Artist Center in Troy, NY, Norte Maar's Jay House Residency, the Rochester Folk Art Guild, and the Burren College of Art in Ballyvaughan, Ireland. Paulapart received their BFA in sculpture and electroacoustic music from the University of Florida.

In addition to this solo presentation, Norte Maar offers an exhibition of works by individual artists who worked to bring collaboratively two major murals to the Cypress Hill community.
