JERI COPPOLA has created a new site specific text piece titled "Placebo." Fashioned out of X-rays and galvanized wired, the artist has transformed a window at Norte Maar into a light box of dialogue. While most dramatically viewed at night, the text piece can be seen 24 / 7 at the corner of Wyckoff Avenue + Suydam Street (Suydam side) in Bushwick, Brooklyn.
"placebo
means something that stands in for something else, and when you take a
placebo you expect a positive outcome, although raditionally placebos
are given without knowledge by the recipient. Often a conversation has
codes and you may be familiar with or confused by, depending on who you
are talking to. Although, sometimes the person who is trying to get the
idea across has the most confusion and often it is what is left out is
the most interesting part of the story." Jeri Coppola
