ANDREW HURST is an artist entrenched
in the process. Matter and material as visual collection. Collage is a means for the artist to feel
his way through different emotional landscapes and expressive
territories. Hurst utilizes an array of materials accumulated
continuously throughout his life, to create visual and textural
eccentricities which are inherent in the many found photographs, films,
objects, sounds and other random elements that the artist combines to
provoke a dissection of his own perceptual and spiritual condition.
These collected elements function as a mirror, examining the internal
and external forces that invade and imbue the constantly evolving
perception of self and surroundings.
Hurst recently exhibited at Roebling Hall in an exhibition of collage work curated by Rita de Alencar Pinto.
